Project Overview

WhatsDoc is a telemedicine platform that allows doctors and patients to communicate digitally with communities built around body systems and diseases. With the rise of telemedicine and the need for remote access to healthcare services, WhatsDoc has become a popular solution for patients and healthcare professionals alike.

The platform offers B2C and B2B telehealth services, a simple mobile app, and a free Employee Telehealth Benefit based on a pay-per-use model. Patients can use the app to book appointments, make voice and video calls, order and pay for prescriptions, and receive prescription deliveries.

To develop their mobile app and website, WhatsDoc chose VirtualSpirit, a technology solutions provider that specializes in building mobile apps, web applications, and digital products.

Business Challenge

Developing the chat feature was complicated, it needs significant development resources to make it fast, secure, and user-friendly.

Ensuring the security and privacy of patient data on the platform was a significant concern for both WhatsDoc and VirtualSpirit.

Solution

To address the challenges faced by the WhatsDoc mobile app and website, we used Ruby on Rails and Postgre to develop the platform's backend. Using these technologies allowed the team to develop the chat feature, voice, and video calls, which was a significant achievement.

We also implemented ID validation to ensure the security and privacy of patient data on the platform.

Results & Impact

The WhatsDoc platform provides patients with real-time access to healthcare professionals via chat, voice, and video calls, and doctors can accept, decline, or reschedule consultation requests. Users appreciated the chat feature and the ability to receive receipts on the platform. Metrics for success include the speed of access to the app.

With the use of modern technology and a commitment to patient privacy and security, WhatsDoc offers a reliable and efficient telemedicine solution that addresses the needs of the modern healthcare landscape.

By partnering with VirtualSpirit, they were able to develop a user-friendly mobile app and website that further enhanced their platform and expanded their reach to more patients and healthcare professionals.

Workflow readiness checklist for AI scoping with oversight panels and integration checkpoints
Most AI scope conversations start one step too early. Before you ask for an estimate, first check whether the workflow, review steps, data, system handoffs, and backup path are ready for real operations.

AI readiness audit roadmap for mid-sized teams planning a production rollout
Most mid-sized teams do not fail with AI because the model is weak. They fail because a promising pilot is pushed toward production before the workflow, data, ownership, approval rules, and integration path are ready.
